My experience is that one can't count on reliable lock back with Gram followers, that is why I recommend to cut out slide lock engagement tab.

Yea, I should have followed your advice from the get-go, but my curiosity got the best of me. I'll cut the tab and hit the range next week with it.

However, what I found out is that tab need to cut out in way that prevents follower from dragging on slide lock lever when releasing magazine.

Speaking with H&K CS, there are no plans to sell the follower by themselves, which is quite disappointing for me, since all my mags already have extensions and have no need of anything else but the follower.

I've tried to figure out why HK initially spec'd 15 rounds for the duty sized VP9. Reliability? The G17 and M&P9 carry 17 rounds no problem. Maybe HK is worried about long-term mag spring durability? Does anybody know?

I wondered the same thing. I really don't like my VP9 mags. I've had two of them drop on concrete and go into pieces. I think the xtech mags corrrected the issue by having a different design in the baseplate detent.

Not too unusual though, but it's not something i've ever seen from an M&P or glock mag. Better than the 226 mag i've seen that had the detent shear off upon dropping.

H&Ks have always had lower magazine capacities traditionally. This is due in turn has given their magazines legendary reliability and longevity, as the spring is not pushed to its limit as much. Yes, the Glock and M&P mags are very reliable and last awhile... but the VP9/P30 mags are far more so. There's actually been folks wondering if the new 17 round mags would negatively impact reliability and longevity, at the expense of trying to keep up on capacity.

Same thing with the 20 round mags from H&K, it is noticeably longer than other magazines that hold 20.

Snagged two of these and they came in today. Loaded up to 17 no problem, but I won't be hitting the range for a few weeks to test function. Thanks for the heads up!
