What if this whole crusade's a charade?
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine…

The whole thing needs a colonoscopy, including Mueller himself. ESPECIALLY his primary henchman Andrew "American Heydrich" Weissmann.

Can anyone give me any non nefarious reason the FBI would choose not to back up note taking, with this brand new invention called a tape recorder?

Tape and video recordings catch inflections in speech that can alter the meaning of the written word. In view of that alone, it seems you would want tape/video of any interview conducted 'at the station.'

Field interviews might be a different matter in terms of difficulty.

I'd imagine that there are a lot of institutional remains from J. Edgar's reign, even today. Hoover definitely wouldn't have wanted recordings.

Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President... - Theodore Roosevelt, Lincoln and Free Speech, Metropolitan Magazine, Volume 47, Number 6, May 1918.

Every Communist must grasp the truth. Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Our principle is that the Party commands the gun, and the gun must never be allowed to command the Party Mao Zedong, 6 November, 1938 - speech to the Communist Patry of China's sixth Central Committee

Given that "cooking the books" is an FBI tradition going back to Hoover...

So as not to leave a trail of nefarious stuff for $300, Alex

I want to not bag on the people of the FBI, but you cant tell me there are not some boy scouts who see how corrupted THE 7th floor types are and want to see it ended.

The number 3 or 4 guy in the FBI, Strzok. Was essentially a liaison between the FBI and CIA. That squirrel thought he was 007 and Brennan brought his operation to the FBI. I understand the sleeziness of the CIA, but the FBI pimps their letters like no other.

The 'Never talk to the cops' lawyer has a cop in the video saying that he records the interview, then rights up the interview and erases the tape so that he recollection in writing is the only contemporaneous version that was documented. I think he says something like he is not obligated to keep the tape and his word is all is needed. Seems like destroying evidence, but then I guess the cop could just interview and type up his notes- ala Comey.

They just switched who's report was whose? And no one noticed? I guess it never went to trial because be plead out?

The best thing is going to be after Nov next year, when win or lose, Trump starts handing out pardons like candy. Maybe even a prophylactic one for himself, like an Advil before you go to bed after a night of hard drinking.
The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.

    It's that simple.

A friend of mine, former coworker, joined the FBI in...1996 (97?). He was in for 10 years. He loved the job, but hated the administration and heavy-handed bureaucracy. He said a lot of SAs would just transfer every couple years so as to not have to enter the leadership portal. He also said there was a definite, established line between the 'cops' and the 'management'.
