    Geissele URG-I up for pre-order

Geissele is going to sell the URG-I (Upper Receiver Group Improved) that they're building for USASOC. While SOPMOD isn't really a thing anymore, this could be the successor to the block II.

Daniel Defense 14.5" CHF barrel (Mid gas)
    Surefire Warcomp Pinned and welded
    Geissele charging handle
    Milspec upper and bcg

Variant also available with no muzzle device, charging handle or BCG

I fail to see what makes this a $1400 upper.
    Comparable build:
    $80 CH
    $300 BBL/GB/BT
    $150 Warcomp
    $200 BCG
    $300 Rail
    $120 upper receiver
    =$1150ish

    What am I missing?

The labor to put it together. I think it's a neat deal but I'm not in the market for one. I have two warcomps. I like the normal super CH over the airborne CH. it's something nice for clone guys to have. I hope that usasoc hurries up and makes those a real thing. It will be interesting though to see if big army takes the old DD RIS and gives them to 101st and 82nd. 82nd was trying to get DD rails but it got shot down because they didn't have enough 91f's to swap rails and didn't feel comfortable training unit armorers to install the RIS rails

The Mk16 rail and charging handle sans laser markings are unobtanium otherwise. So, consider it a scarcity premium that people will pay to have the otherwise-unobtainable setup that Green Berets are getting. If you have played the clone game at all, then you're aware of this phenomenon.

I was kind of "meh" on the upper at first (though I have been wanting to see a Geissele handguard with usable MLOK slots on the non-vertical/horizontal axes since they were making them), but Bill G. is quite the salesman and the video got me pretty excited for it. I just wish they would offer a complete NFA version.

I have no doubt they'll sell to the right crowd. Just making sure I wasn't missing anything groundbreaking. I'm all for neat stuff.

He said they had to buy a new machine to make them, that could be why they're a little more pricey.

Can I get sources on why? Really curious why they are sticking with this profile while the entire civilian market is moving towards the LW tapered profile.
