Durability: the M41000 would be durable enough for me, but I am leaning toward the Surefire (see POA/POI)
The M4-1000 is great for full auto. It is made from heat-treated Inconel 718 and 316L stainless. That stainless is 20% stronger at high temps than the 304 stainless Ops Inc, Gemtech, and AWC uses, and the bore is larger so it is safer for full auto. No, it is not as good as the M4-2000, but is better than nearly all other cans at any price (exception would be the KAC). The Inconel in the M4-1000 is significantly more durable than the Inconel Surefire uses on their blast baffle. I feel that even fans of the M4-1000 underestimate it due to the low price. We built it to be a $900+ can, but then priced it much lower.

Thanks for all the great recommendations so far... I have been an eager beaver reading about all of them...

The only web site I have been unable to get to is OPS, Inc... It just comes up BLANK in both Firefox and IE... ???? Anyone else get the blank screen?

Understood. I am by no means well versed in suppresors and their performace/durability/ability. As I mentioned before, one desire I have is the POA/POI shift. Other than demigod, I have not read anything on the M41K/2K and it's POA/POI affect. I have read that surefire was one of the best for little or no POA/POI shift. On another note, I did find a local AAC stocking dealer who has offered a demo. That right there is something that may nudge me to go with the M41K with the hope that I wont have a significant POA/POI shift. As a side note, the concern on the POA/POI shift really pertains only to mounting the can a 16" or longer barreled AR.

    Thanks for all the input....

    Rmplstlskn,

Hope this is helping you out too and that I'm not dominating your thread too much.

You might want to check this site:

    http://www.jetsuppressors.com/

They don't offer a QD, but personally I don't see the necessity. It only takes a few seconds more to unscrew it. If it's hot you won't want to be handling it much anyway. One additional advantage that I see, is that IMO it's a lot more secure way of mounting. A QD has to have a certain amount of play to be able to mount/dismount it. Just my .02.

FYI - drop the can into a ultrasonic cleaning tank - it helps get the gunk out.

and for others who may take the short bus with me -- dont lube the cans after with CLP unless you like white/grey smoke

Just for rogue7a to celebrate his color change ---

The OpsInc cans on the Mk12's last a lot longer due to the firing schedule -- OPSINC cans on M240's and other beltfeds last about as long as KAC's or GemTech's.

I'm close to buying one of these. I'm hoping bolt carriers can be cleaned easier in it too.

AAC warns of this in their manual.

By the way... My results are from a 14.5" M4 profiled barrel. Mine is a sample of one. I don't know of any other reports of POI impact from the 1000.

i was able to meet up with the major malfunction guys at a gun show and they are very helpful and will even help with your paper work for free.
They make a psychiatrist get psychoanalyzed before he can become certified, but they don't make a surgeon get cut on. Does that seem right to you?
