Fair question. Would a carry-handle AR mount fit? It would require drilling a hole afaik.

The original ones were milled and worked sorta kinda like an AR-18 scope mount.

The problem is finding a modern mount like that and a scope. The originals were 3x. Not Armalite but Delft and had a G3 Hensoldt style reticle.

So to any Chinese/Japanese companies wanting to capitalize on the retro craze....

I just want my AR-10 retro DMR...

The Brownell's retro 308 uses DPMS internals. They said that's so the shooter can easily get replacement parts.

That doesnt bother me too much. I doubt I would bet the farm on one. If I can just get some way to mill a retro style scope (or the OG claw mount) and it holds a 2" group at 100; I will be a happy camper. Maybe make some retro waffle mags.

I have an SR25 if I want a tight gun. But I want to go back in time for a little while and be a Batistan Commando or a Bush War Mercenary or part of Able Team every so often. I would even get some of that splotchy WWII camo or French Lizard to match.

I've been trying to resist the urge to Go There, but... Carl Lyons, is that you?

I hope someone makes an aftermarket grenade launcher sleeve for barrel between the FSB and muzzle device.

Never shot a carry handle charging AR variant before. Does the CH reciprocate?

I didn't mean for it to come across as a criticism, just a statement of fact. I got to handle a prototype and I think it's very cool. I've wanted an AR10 since I was a kid and this is as close to the real thing as I'm gonna be able to afford.

I don't believe it's supposed to, but you can see that the charging handle isn't doing a very good job of completely not reciprocating in this video:

ETA: It should be noted that the charging handle does come out the back of the upper receiver. So a reciprocating version would put out your eye ball.

I think that video is what spurred my question. These Brownells guns seem to use a ball detent lockup. I'm not sure what the original guns used, prior to whichever version had the forward assist integrated.

My future wish list for these rifles (in order of desirability):
    0. More accurate FSB
    1. Portuguese handguards
    2. Portuguese grenade launcher shroud
    3. Reliable, inexpensive aluminum waffle mags
    4. Sudanese grenade launcher shroud
    5. Upper modified to accept a Delft 3x scope
    6. Cheap reproduction Delft 3x scope
