I can see the usefulness of a drum if a dude is not wearing a bunch of mag pouches, otherwise, too heavy. Plus eventually, assuming I use it, I’m going to want to put it in a pouch, and drum pouches are very bulky compared to regular mag pouches. I bet it makes a really good monopod, though.

    Water is pretty important.

No argument from me there, though I can't comment on use of it as a monopod. I think there is a difference between pulling security on an AHA and doing a patrol in Afghanistan, so there is always that part. I've had to crawl and clear basements and attics knowing bad people were inside, and there is something to be said for the ability to maneuver semi-gracefully so I can understand different needs, Then again, I have only played cop tunnel rat, never had to do that while in the service.

States like WA & OR have traditionally been states which have been "hands off" for gun control, but the last decade or so has had a rash of CA move north and bring their CA values along with them.

However, think about things this way. If the USMC stated they were buying 10,000 of the IAR along with the Magpul D60 magazines and pouches immediate issue, how long would Magpul keep them in stock? If the Army 82nd, or 1st ID decided the D60 would now be a primary magazine, how many do you think we would see on shelves? If the USAF decided they were going to jump ahead and grab them for all of their security Forces units in Korea, how long would they stay on the shelves of your local store or favorite internet dealer?

Just something to think about. For people who think drums are ignorant, that is awesome, I'm sure they have combat experience or some form of real world experience to back it up. I know that personally I've never been in combat and thought to myself that I had too much ammo, too many rounds in my weapon, or had too much water with me. Why water? Because shooting mo-fos can make a man thirsty...
Yep, it has been pretty disgusting watching Californiaism spread into my state like a ****ing disease over the years.

In a nutshell, "Drums, Fatties and Big Sticks (>30rd) more for fixed-post or LMG/SAW/IAR, 20s and 30s for when you expect tight quarters maneuvering, possible CQB or prone-position shooting" sound about right for the "Dummies Guide" general-guideline version?
You really have to ask why Conservatives have guns? Because Liberals block freeways, burn cities, throw Molotov cocktails, loot, turn over cop cars, and think this behavior is Socially Acceptable.

I observed a special operations direct action team in training, and several of them were using PMAG 40s without any apparent issues maneuvering with them.

The D60 is a beast. I’m completely confident that mine will work every time, and I’m considering purchasing them for our SAW gunners as a quick reload.

Not that M4Guru needs any backing up, but I have put several thousands of rounds through my D60 with not a single malfunction or issue.

This from a civilian user standpoint.

Good shot of one in use with French SOF:

If the Marines go all-in on D60s, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Magpul will be producing them in MCT.

MCT is actually an Army color requirement, but I’d definitely like to see the D60, PMAG 40, and other sizes in that color. I think the D60 may take some time because I think it uses some other materials besides just the standard polymer.

Posted by Magpul back when the MCT PMAG was announced:

“The "Small Arms Weapons Neutral" color was a range of colors that was proscribed by the Army--FDE was outside that range, so we had to have a new color that was as strong as the Black material when used in the M3 Magazine.

    MCT was the winner.”

I’d buy a few more 40s and 60s if they made them in MCT. I wish all of the different variants of tan and FDE were standardized to that color, it’s a solid blend.
