You dont really have to do any building with a 6920 OEM. The only part that is slightly difficult is hammering in the trigger guard pin. If you're uncomfortable with that I would suggest finding a regular 6920. They're out there and they can be had for pretty cheap, you wont find a more reliable AR.

Did I miss it or did you not tell us what your budget is?

I've been thinking about/lightly researching for about 3 months, but the last month I've been doing more hardcore researching. Options are nice, but I can definitely see why people have multiple AR's lol.

All you literally have to do to connect the upper/lower is push two pins together. It's extremely simply and buying them separate will save a little cash. Don't worry about fit to much between the upper/lower if going with quality such as BCM. A little bit of wobble is normal and has no effect on accuracy. Sometimes it will be a little tighter or looser due to tolerance stacking
Ah, that makes sense. I wasn't thinking about it in that way.

I'll definitely be getting at least a case of ammo when I make my order. How many magazines do you recommend?

I didn't mention. My budget is around 2k max. This is just for the rifle. I plan on using the iron sights until I'm comfortable with them before I get any optics.

Get a Daniel Defense DDM4v7 and you can put an Aimpoint on top and a Geissele trigger in if you want an excellent FCG. Pick up a couple more mags and a case of good ammo and a few rounds of defensive ammo like Hornady and you are set for awhile with no regrets. Don’t fret about list price of a DD as you can get one for a few hundred less than MSRP.

    So many choices..

There are enough great companies that build great guns that I don’t ever see the reason to get a Colt, unless your budget is restricted. If not, BCM is the best choice until you’re ready to pay for a KAC. Doesn’t matter what you pick from BCM, but my recommendation would be a long QRF or MCMR handguard over an enhanced profile barrel, whether its EMW or ELW. I never saw the point of buying a DD over a BCM, I think you get more for your money with the latter, and now the DD political stance, blah blah blah. My first AR was a Noveske as is my current one. I really don’t see myself buying another. I don’t understand the above post about a “compromise” but you are paying KAC prices for what is mostly just a prettier milspec gun. If I’m going to pay that much money on an AR again, it needs to have significant improvements such as the KAC BCG and gas system.

Is the EMW barrel just anything that doesn't say "Enhanced Light Weight"?

Personally, I'd go with a DDM4 (V7 because I prefer M-LOK handguards) or BCM over the Colt 6920 with a mid-length gas system.

Anyone also consider a Centurion Arms?

I hear Monty puts together a pretty good stick, and prices are in line with BCM.
