I'd get the pistol and Form 1 it, rebarreling would be a PITA and if you just chop off the barrel you won't have the 3 lug / threads. 922r isn't a big deal at all...

I replaced the hand guard, charging handle, trigger, trigger box, hammer, and sear.

That is what I did when long barrel 94P models were all that was available. Sent it to S&H for a cut and crown and three lug adapter. Now here is the really, really important part. Most people simply thread the barrel and screw on the adapter as if it were some kind of muzzle device.

However on a true MP5 the threaded barrel continues right through the adapter and the crown is out in front where it should be. That is NOT how most people do it and that is why three lug / threaded Navy setups are so much more common.

There are a handful of guys I would trust to three lug a cut and crown barrel job and top of the list is Curtiss Higgins at S&H Arms.

It would be easier to buy one of the three lug / threaded setups already to go but if you are dead set against it, getting a long barrel Zenith is the way to go. Just make sure you get the pistol version because last I checked the rifle version had blocking bars in the magazine well to make sure it only accepted 10 round magazines and the trigger group and buttstock were a one piece contraption.

The pistol it is. Selection seems thin. I’ll call Kelly enterprise in the morning to see what they got and the price. Is that a good shop to do business with?

If I remember right , reading about a thread about the omegas owner having to change the names every few years to avoid a bad rep? Is that correct?

I called chuck at Kelly enterprises and told him I wanted a z-5rs and a z-5p. He said he has none in stock and no clue when he would get any in or if. He words were if you find one anywhere buy it. He acted like it was uncertain times getting these shipped here.
I purchased the z5 ds from classic Firearms and found one company that advertised they had a z5p sh with rail in stock and I purchased that one too but was later contacted and they were sold out. They said they should know this week if they can get me one.
I’m still on the hunt for the 5p

Don't forget 'Independence Parts' out of Arizona that is making most of the US made parts for HK Parts...that's a Bailey operation, too.

The current Omegas have decent reputation for working, they just come with some historical baggage. The key, if you get an Omega, is to get it from someone like Atlantic Firearms that will refund, replace or repair if their should be an issue, and you don't have to deal with Omega at all.

FWIW, I have a POF, MKE, Omega, Vector, and a DJ Getz clone, and the Omega has been fine (the chatter on the boards has seemed similar to my experience, as well). The MKE and DJ Getz guns are prettier, but the POF and Omega don't look bad, and run great. The Omega might be a good choice for someone thinking about a sear host, as it would require no conversion to run with a sear pack. Price is generally the lowest of the options, as well.

I called Zenith and talked to Don there. He was very helpful and put me in contact with the right people for a Z-5p. He said he would get more information and call me back. The next day he called me back which is unheard of from most companies. I can tell with zeniths CS they value their customers. Very nice and professional people at Zenith.

Thanks Don for all the help and information. My Z-5RS will be in tomorrow. I can’t wait.
Now just gotta wait for my z-5p to come it.
