Take Will Larson's class and you can source quality parts and build a better quality AR than a lot of these companies mass producing them.

Obviously, the more care that goes into the manufacturing process, the better the result.

As far as the lower threshold for rejecting parts, and speccing parts to a higher tolerance, largely what we have is an assumption that some manufacturers do this.

I think the point that many folks miss is that for some folks a Ford Escort was all the car they needed. Other folks thought they needed something better so they bought Volvo's. Nobody is saying that a Ford Escort is better than a Volvo, or even equal to a Volvo, but a Ford Escort was adequate.

You can use that same analogy with rifles, although not as handily. We aren't talking one rifle made of pot metal and another out of 7075-T6, 4150, C-158, etc. For the most part other than 4140 for some barrels and 9310 for some bolts the materials are essentially the same. So it gets a little harder to determine why one rifle is worth 700.00 and another that looks essentially the same, and is made with the same materials is worth 1200.00.

Although I'm sure the SJW crowd would throw a hissy, what someone needs to do is build and market a rifle as a VolksRifle.

Very few folks out shoot their rifles, very few folks wear out barrels, etc. Maybe for them a (insert brand here) is good enough.

I asked a genuine question about a rifle that on paper looks pretty good for a good price. I never said that a stag was "as good as a Colt" or anything like that. I was actually looking for advice, and I listed the specs of the rifle on the first page, which were clearly "not as good as" but close to.

Yes, I have high end very expensive rifles, but that doesn't mean that I should have to spend over 1,000 dollars to get another solid reliable rifle, or that all my ARs should be Colt, BCM, or (insert elietest brand).

If anyone can suggest a better rifle for a similar price point I would genuinely appreciate it.

A few months ago there were lots of options for duty grade AR's well under a grand, but now the market went back up thanks to politics. I'm starting to feel like an idiot for not buying more Colt's while the gettin was good a few months ago.

I appreciate the time and thought that everyone has put into the thread so far. I can absolutely save longer, and spend more money to get a BCM or whatever, but if I can find a good option for less cost, I will absolutely take that option.
I look for the best deals on ammo, and buy in bulk: and just like when buying cases of ammo, I'm always trying to find the best deals when it comes to guns too. I've overpaid for firearms in my younger days, and I refuse to go down that road again unless something crazy happened like Hilary won.

People have a hard time understanding that if you want ghetto budget firearm talk, this isn't the forum for that. There are plenty of places it is, like BARF for example.

So buy a Stag, buy a PSA, buy an Anderson - shoot it and if you like it, enjoy it!

Don't let our opinions that you rarely get something for nothing hurt your feelings.

Especially if it has a Tasco or NcStar ACOG look alike optic on top and a UTG free float rail - because that's big pimping awesome.

    Lol my feelings aren't hurt.
The last ten rifles I've bought have all cost over a grand, excluding the Colt Trooper I snagged back in fall.

If the general consensus here is that stag is equivalent to PSA, S&W, and that shit than I am not interested, I made that pretty clear on the first page.

    NCstar?
    I have real trijicons, thanks.

Colt's were going for 650$ about 6 months ago, and many other top end brands for very low prices as well.
I don't think it's unreasonable at all that I would try to get a similar deal just a couple months later.

My experience of 1 each is that psa>stag on paper, but the stag>psa in actual use.
You cant expect the same deal now as a few months ago because 3 mass shootings and a huge push by libs didnt push normal people into scavenger mode.

    3 choices:
    Pay more for same quality
    Pay same for less quality
Wait for politics to die down and buy same quality for same price 6 mo-1yr later.
Buy same quality same price (used).

CMT is not the parent company of Stag. Stag Arms is now owned by https://www.whitewolfcapital.com/news.html after the last Stag shenanigans.

Please tell me what parts Colt is buying from CMT. Colt makes certain stuff in house, everything else is from an outside vendor and I know most of them. CMT wasn't on the list, last time I looked.

Well, I appreciate the info guys. Guess I will not be buying a stag. My search will continue.

I've learned my lesson, I really need to stock up while the getting is good. I should of bought several Colt's a few months ago while they were cheap.
