Trump to send military to border until a wall is complete

We're generally pretty spoiled as Americans. You're seeing the Military being used to protect our borders, they tend to need to do that sort of stuff domestically when you're being invaded.

We aren't being invaded by a foreign army capable of engaging us in combat, so the 'invasion, invasion' stuff is hyperbole.

I've always thought we should have more of a military presence at the borders, but this ad hoc 'get them moving, right away' stuff is going to cause problems. I believe that NG and Reserve forces should be rotated to border duty for a month, on a regular schedule once every couple years.

If we were serious we'd be using imminent domain to claim all lands one or two miles from the border and develop a buffer for the .mil to operate in.

Tehn again, if we were serious we'd be wide scale throwing anyone who employed an illegal in jail, but that would cost big business some money, and make everything more expensive for us peons.

I've always said we need the following schools in border areas.

Special Forces Desert Warfare
Navy Special Warfare Amphibious
Armored Desert Warfare

and various aerial, artillery and armored targeting ranges. When undesirables start regularly running into military special forces on training exercises on a regular basis, things will change. Won't 100% fix the problem, but lots of problems will get mostly fixed.

Hell yes, until the Wall is complete!!!!!!!!!!! This should be considered a deployment. We are being invaded. This is not law enforcement. Personally, I value deployment on the US-Mexico border about 10000000000000000000 times more valuable than deploying to the middle east.

Although I do agree with many of your views, I still do believe it to be an invasion, military forces or not. That they may not be capable of using force against us is debatable considering some of their tactics in Mexico. That they were using force has been clearly evidenced on numerous occasions on their way acoss Mexico's border.
If you believe in the Cloward-Priven Strategy there is some amount of evidence of why this is happening and how it will end. That would be enough for me, along with the above mentioned violence in Mexico to, as POTUS use Federal Troops to prevent them from crossing.
The reason you cannot rely on National Guardsmen, is unless they are Federalized, someone like Jerry Brown will welcome them with open arms at the border.

Hell, even on AD, not many units can measure up to the standards needed. There was a reason the 2nd and 11th ACRs in Cold War Germany were rated as elite units.

If you believe in the Cloward-Priven Strategy there is some amount of evidence of why this is happening and how it will end.

I believe it was a 'strategy' because they published it, but I do not believe it is currently a Nationwide conspiracy.

We are going to have to disagree on that.

I would not have any unit permanently stationed on the border for the simple reason that over time it is more likely that personnel would establish relationships with criminal elements.

That is on Highway 281 near Falfurrias, I have been through there many times. They seize as much if not more drugs there than some border stations. My wife got detained there once because the chemo treatments she was taking set off the radioactivity sensors at the checkpoint. The BP went crazy, running around with their dogs and detectors trying to find the source.

One of the ranches I hunt at is less than ten miles south of there. That’s roughly 65 miles as the crow flies to the border.
