    tapping a DD bas block

i bought a barrel super cheap as an experiment to see if i like a 12.5 barrel over a 10.3. the gas block i have laying around is off my dd mk18 and is a single cross pin to the barrel. the barrel i bought has the 2 cross pins for the FSB, but the cross pin holes don't line up from the gas block to the barrel. there is a hole drilled in the bottom of the gas block, so i was wondering if i should tap it and get a set screw so i can utilize the gas block.

dumb idea or go for it?

I wouldn't bother to dimple if the cheap barrel is truly just an experiment.

Meh. You can pick up a brand new non adjustable set screw SLR Rifleworks gas block for $29. Easy button.

Probably. I know an A2 front sight base can have the hole under the sling swivel drilled and tapped for a set screw as a lower hassle means of centering the front sight for windage before snugging 4 set screws in from the sides.
