go to Sears and get yourself a nice screw extractor set.
1) Use a commercially available screw extractor as previosly mentioned to remove broken fastener.
2) Drill out/Remove keyed insert and install oversized insert.
3) Drop it off at a machine shop with EDM capabilities.
Did you lose your torque wrench or what?
i used the supplied torque wrench - i was at the range and after cleaning i wanted to "snug it up " and snap the rear bolt snapped . i called LMT and they're sending a replacement bolt - so ill get the threaded portion out thanks to the great advice for someone who is a little mechanically challenged . and yes i should have just left it alone ! LOL
If your not experienced at doing such work,I'd recommend just taking it to an armorer or gunsmith. The charge to do such work will be minimal. If you drill off center(very easy to do before you know it) and get into the receiver it could get rather expensive.
I'd rather spend a little money getting it done rather than buying a new upper.
Also when torquing the fasteners, you should start with the bolts loose and run them down with the torque wrench to the proper setting in one motion when possible. If the bolts are tightened down and you try to check the bolts with the torque wrench you will get false readings.Once the bolts are torqued you do not need to hit them with the torque wrench again. If you do you may overtorque the bolts.

i took a trip to sears and bought the necessary extraction stuff as well as a brand new torque wrench . after a quick look i turned the mrp to the 9 o'clock side where the threaded part was still attached and gently appiled my drill and just like that the threaded part came out . i cleaned out the hole and all i have to do now is wait for the replacement screws to come from LMT . thanks to everyone for the great advice - !!
