REMINGTON 700 ADL OR RUGER AMERICAN PREDATOR IN .308

So, remington has brought the adl series of 700 rifles back. 1:12 twist rate, blind mag, cheap stock, crappy scope for 429 at a local shop. They also have the ruger american predator in stock. 1:10 twist, detachable mag, cheap stock, no scope, comes with scope rail for 379 on sale. Any thoughts? Not hunting with it, just some target shooting. Mostly at 100 yards. Maybe out to 300 once in a while. I was oroginally looking at the ruger. Then i seen the 700 adl for 429. Sounds damn cheap for a 700!

Well, i ended up with a 5 year old savage 11 package rifle thats never been shot. Got a really good deal on it. I think i would rather have a savage 11 action over a 700 action. Im happy.

Remington is a gamble with their lack of quality control. If you want to customize it later, the 700 has better aftermarket support. Otherwise I would stick with the Ruger or look at a Savage as bcmgunfighterohio mentioned. If you want to spend more, look at the Tikka T3X line.

I have an older 700 and the Ruger American both in 308. They both shoot great and never had an issue with either. As was mentioned the 700 has more aftermarket support. I'd take the Ruger over a new 700 given the choice for a basic hunting rifle.

The Ruger American is doing really well. Well enough that Magpul is making a stock for it. The Ruger Predators are known to shoot really well. With the issues Remington has had lately I’d take the Ruger.

No dude is going to get shot in the chest at 300 yards and look down and say "What is that, a 3 MOA group?"
