Question About When Someone Goes Bye-Bye

    Just curious:

Last night I saw there were some new entries in the training and tactics forum.

Just a moment ago when I checked those posts were gone as was any trace of the user.

    What's up?

I'm not seeing any threads like that in the trash.

Periodically we get spammers that post here. We generally wield a pretty big axe when they do.

Also, if a previously banned user tries to sneak back in under a different screen name, we tend to get all Ming the Merciless as well.

Not saying it did not happen, just that we tend pimp-slap pretty hard in some situations.

The user name was Rifleman(?) (don't remember number). I did a user search and couldn't find him or anything posted by other's with same user name and apparently different numbers.

Maybe it's onset of oldtimer's disease. Next thing you know my kids or grandkids will be walking me on a leash.

    Thanks!

Ah, I know who you are talking about, because I made him vanish. Put away the leash for now.

There is a very small set of people that like to register here, submit 30 one-liner posts, and then immediately put up a For Sale ad in the EE.

And I know you will be stunned to read this, but a statistically significant number of those people tend to be rip-off artists. Amazing, huh?

So we have a tendency to make people like that disappear, to protect the members from scammers.

Good to know. Amazing what goes on behind the scenes. I often worry that you can see me posting in my underwear (with the required safari hat on my head of course).

If you don't have a piece of duct/masking tape over your webcam he probably does. That's why I surf naked!

I always notice your avatars sport safari hats and pondered as to what the story was behind that....

Okay, so I'll put everyone to sleep with this story.

Since I was a kid I've wanted three hats:

    1. Remember the "Wee Pals" cartoon where the little black kid wears the Civil War Union forage cap? Got a couple of them.

    2. Russian ushanka--got a couple of genuine blue fur Soviet Red Army ushankas with the red star/hammer & sickle/wreath badge.

    3. Green Safari hat with puggaree. All the Tarzan and jungle movies, plus my girlfriend loves animals and zoos, etc. The safari hat fit right in. If you're ever in Southern New Mexico and you see a fifties-ish guy wearing a green safari hat with puggaree like in the old safari movies: it's probably me. I always was more Indiana Jones than cowboy, so the safari hat has kind of become "my" headgear of choice, just like Bill Dance wears the baseball cap with the "T" on it.

Okay, everyone can wake back up now.

I could if you actually wore underpants.
