Would adding motion activation solve the battery issue for HD?

Probably not for a carry gun.

Agreed. But for my purposes it would be a HD gun, turned off most of the time. I would just repalace the battery after each range session. For a carry gun, I guess the RMR is still the best choice.

Jury is still out on battery life, some users are still going strong on their first battery others not so much. The CR1225 battery is a 50mAh battery and that is not going to have the reserve to run 2+ years like an RMR, T2, MRO etc using a CR2032 that is a 225mAh battery.

Mine is still running fine on the original battery but I’m also only 5 months in. Plan to run it until it’s dead, then change on a schedule of 1/2 battery life thereafter.
What setting do you keep it on? 5 months is not bad.

Hopefully they rectify the battery concerns in the next generation.

    Usually setting 7 or 8.

At night or when not in use I will turn it down.

I also replaced it 2 weeks ago, still had setting 10 but it was not 100% output compared to a fresh battery. So I got 5.5 months out of it. Ideal? No. Acceptable for me? Yes. I have to put fresh batteries in the weapon light way more frequently than that to trust it 100%, so with that in mind needing to put in a fresh battery for the Aimpoint isn’t a deal breaker for me. Already have the next one scheduled in my iPhone calendar.

I’m guessing a competent machinist could make an adapter to thread into the battery compartment cover on the ACRO that could then take a CR2032. Might not be too impractical but I’m not the right guy to try it.

My luck, I will buy one a week before the gen 2.0 comes out with the batter issue resolved.

True. I just think it had to been obvious from the get go on their end though. Ya know.
