Best 300BLK Barrel That Is Short/Light Sub 2MOA?

OK - I think my next build is going to be a 300BLK lightweight pistol. Probably around 8 to 10 inches.

I have been doing research and finding some older data about how some 300BLK barrels are not high enough twist rate?

Who has the best barrels for sub $300 in the light and accurate category?
What is best for gas port / gas tube length / buffer / spring combination recipe?
What is the current bleeding edge 300BLK barrel to shoot supers and subs up to around 440m and have sub 2MOA at 100m?

I have seen one test that had a Brownells barrel go sub MOA with a couple different types of ammunition but I'm uncertain of the exact specs and pretty sure it's not as lightweight as I'd prefer for this build.

I would be suppressing it but not all the time but perhaps most of the time. Depending upon feedback here.

Some interesting data points I found, do you agree or disagree? Any other thoughts to add to this?

    From a 9 inch barrel (2050 fps):
    – 100 inches drop at 410 meters
    – 41 inches drift at 470 meters
    – 291 ft-lbs of energy at 625 meters, so 440 meter max effective range for a 9 inch.
    • 300 BLK from a 9 inch barrel has the same energy at the muzzle as a 14.5 inch barrel M4, and about
5% more energy at 440 meters.

Why worry about drop, drift, and gnats a$$ precision at long(er) range with a 9” 300BLK? That’s not the type of role that kind of build would fill.

ETA: especially built as a “pistol”

One can cheek the brace and rest the pistol for accuracy.

Why not seek out an accurate high quality barrel? I am not building a PCC sub 50 yard gun. I'd like this to do duty as far as 200m for hogs.

This .gov study says 440m is the max effective range for 9 inch 300BLK

I missed the 2 MOA and somehow only saw the part about Brownells sub MOA. Just about any barrel should give you about 2 MOA or better. Ammo selection will be the bigger determinant outside of that. Pick the one that fits your budget and checks the other boxes you want checked.

Any specific recommendations for an 8 to 10 inch barrel? Gas port size? Carbine or Pistol gas length? Buffer weight/Spring weight?

I would look at the Faxon and/or Ballistic Advantage options. There’s a couple stainless options that would fill your requirements if you don’t think the standard melonited options will.

From a 9" barrel the 110gr supers should still get you ~ 2100-2150fps. That 2050 figure might be for a 120 or 125gr.

BCM makes a chrome lined 9" barrel. That is what I have on my build. It is right around a 2MOA gun with 110gr Hornady GMX's, maybe a hair more.

Thanks - care to share your buffer/spring/gas tube recipe? What's the gas port on your BCM 9 CL? Weight of barrel?
