    Night Vision/ Light Question

While watching a review of a light, the guy doing the review kept shining it on the camera. He said it was 1000 lumens. The camera was completely washed out each time.

What happens when someone wearing night vision equipment has someone else shine a light on them? Does it cancel the night vision?

early generation models can be suddenly and permanently damaged. current hi-end models "close down" to protect themselves but return to full function very quickly. one gets what one pays for.

but the point of "blinding" a NVD user is known. that is one reason many users prefer monocular units that only cover one eye (vs binocular models). that way the unused closed eye is protected from the monetary brightness and can instantly be opened for uninterrupted viewing.
