And from the H&K data sheet the M27 weight rifle only is 8.16 lbs vs what for a rifle only M4A1 7.5 lbs?
They will be tailored to the individual. A grenadier will get the 203. Not everyone needs the bipod. A designated marksman will get a scope instead of an Acog. Ect...

They'll be customizable just like any rifle. You can take whatever you want off as well. Some guys didn't like forward grips and grip pods and took them off they M16a4's. Some guys didn't like the issued sling and took it off and used 550 cord instead. Others used their own slings. Nothing is permanent for weight other than the rifle itself.

The cheap way to do this is to use the “SOCOM” profile barrel that is becoming ubiquitous on M4A1’s, but with a lower profile gas block, and throw a G MLOK rail on it.
Funny you mention this. I basically built a carbine around a new-in-the-wrap SOCOM barrel. Had the FSB shaved down and put a BCM KMR-A on it (they make an MLOK one now if that's your preference). LMT Enhanced BCG, Geissele SD-C trigger, BCM Mod 3 grip (that more vertical approach you mentioned before), blue Sprinco spring, H2 buffer, B5 Systems stock, Troy BUIS's, and an Aimpoint T2.

I watched the entire season of this show. It looked like our guys have to deal with a bunch of ****ing bullshit. Hiking through the mountains with 100 lbs or more of gear, engaging an enemy at a range beyond the capability of your weapon, approaching the target area in the open and exposed after an airstrike, having to let the enemy go free because they ditched their weapons and you couldn't prove they were taliban even though you knew they were.
