I mentioned pages ago where LAV talked about weapon tests of the SAS. He has a friend that was involved in that testing and IIRC one of the guns the M4 beat out in their tests was the Sig / Swiss Arms 55x rifles.

I highly doubt the SAS's testing will ever be made public but I'd would love to see what their tests consisted of and the various rifles that were tested and how they all scored. No doubt they would put all those YouTube channel tests to shame as they are probably shooting out barrels and melting handgaurds on test guns.

Unless we know the types of testing done, then just saying one won is anecdotal at best. There really isn't any environmental test I can think of that hasn't already been discussed though.

We've already discussed the InRange mud tests where the AR, G3 (Century C-308), and custom part kit build Cetme-L pass (no water submersion involved in those tests).

But I was recently reminded of the torture test LAV did for the DDM4 back in 2011 for his TV show. At the beginning he is transparent and states that he is a paid consultant for DD so extrapolate from that what you will. However he did state during the test that this was a representation of any M4 not just the DD; Colt, FN, etc.

The pond/swamp test occurs at @ 10:15. After pulling back the CH to ensure their is no water obstructing the barrel and or gas tube he fires two rounds then experiences a short stroke. Later @ 14:30 he states that his theory on the water submersion test was a result of water in the buffer tube. IIRC units that conduct waterborne operations "Swiss cheese" their buffer tubes for this reason.

I wish the video didn't have jump cuts after he pulled it out of the water. I know you want to be sure the gas tube is clear but would make sense if they actually incorporated more holes in the buffer tube to help with draining. Here's an AK submerged, no jumpcuts, safety off, nothing over the muzzle- one failure.

Holes in the receiver extension aren't exactly advanced technology. If there was an actual need, it would have been done by now.

As an owner of both Molot and DD rifles I appreciated Rob Ski's "Clash of the Titan" series.

During his water test he experienced no malfunctions or stoppages of any kind on either rifle and he performed the same clearing procedure on both rifles to ensure their was no obstructions. Rob Ski is a huge fan of the AK and has stated on previous vids which are obviously AK centric that he prefers AK's over AR's. But he is not on anyone's payroll and does not bullshit his reviews.

Here is his water test where he throws the rifles out into a creek and then dragged them through the muddy bottom with no jump cuts in editing and no cover over the muzzles:

IIRC his last video on the DDM4v11 was the "5K round Love and Hate" video. He had a couple of issues with the FCG for some reason that he never figured out where the hammer did not reset and thinks that after his drop tests the DD SLiM Rail 15.0 handguard shifted. Other than that he digs it and praised it's LW barrel.
