    Scope for Sako finfire II

All my current magnified optics are on 223/308/30-06 caliber rifles so I have zero experience with magnified optics on a rimmfire rifle.

I want a lowish power fixed or variable scope and I do value good glass. I currently have mostly Nightforce scopes. Am I going to be disappointed with one of the Leupold rimfire scopes? If so should I just put a "real" scope on it?

Purpose of rifle is general fun, nothing serious. I would like to keep it light though.

I have a Leupold 3-9x33 with adjustable objective that I like for general purpose lightweight rimfires. I’ve used them on .22 LR, .22 WMR and .17 HMR. For everyday use I don’t think you can go wrong with one.

I have mostly NF optics as well. I would be comfortable buying a low end Vortex, I think Diamondback line would be fine. A PST would be more than enough. If you must do NF, get a SHV which I bought for a SPR build which for a F1 4-16 is $1,250. But I think your fine in the $500 range.

    Sako is legit

My one scoped rimfire is a Cooper M52 in .22LR. It wears a Leupold 2.5-8X36 VX III. Just about perfect for what I like to use it for, more magnification might be nice but the 8X top end is more than adequate for shooting rabbits and squirrels.

Most rimfire actions, other than those based on centerfires like 40X, are a bit overwhelmed by full-size scopes. For general use, I’d look for a rimfire scope. Obviously, for silhouette & target shooting, let the purpose guide your choice, but for me a big-ass scope on a handy rimfire makes no sense.
