"We will no longer be slaughtered"

Just heard on NPR that the Israeli state has relaxed gun control laws. They hope that an additional 30,000 licensed gun owners will be ready to help against Palestinian attacks. Considering that most of the applicants will be combat trained veterans, the impact should be profound. And yes, the subject line of this thread is from the government spokesman.

Wonderful idea, just decades late in its implementation.

I can't believe that a country founded by survivors of a regime that was able to put people in ovens because those people had their guns taken away would have gun controls in the first place.

Truly liberalism is a disease and not just an ideology.

Hey, THAT’S “thinking out of the box!”

And in other news, water is wet.

I guess I had this impression of every Israeli home having multiple military weapons and plenty of ammo and mags. I thought only the gas mask might have to be government issued. Guess I'm totally wrong, eh?

I believe Yoni has addressed this and expressed no small amount of frustration in the past.
I believe this will make his day.

    Yup.

I would like to get Yoni’s take on this as well. I realize Israel is not the gun friendly utopia many would have assumed, I did think private Israeli citizens were more frequently armed while out in public. Lord knows they should be.

Unlike Chicago, where the resident's motto remains: "THANK YOU SIR, MAY I HAVE ANOTHER?!"
