Well, Brownells screwed up and sent me a stripped lower when I ordered a complete lower (backordered). Long story short, I have most of an upper but no lower. I'm starting to understand why a few here have recommended the 16" LW barrel for 308. It's really quite beefy for a LW barrel and I wonder what the 18" really gains besides weight.

    MLKMWS Upper : 30.2 oz. (1 lb 14.2 oz)
LW CL 16" Barrel Assy: 44.4 oz. (2 lb 12.4 oz)
    Geissele SCH : 1.6 oz.
Total Upper minus BCG : 76.2 oz. (4 lb 12.2 oz)

The BCG adds around 18 oz and I'm still unsure of whether to go for the semi or full-auto BCG. I'm also considering the ATACR 4-16x F1 instead of the 1-8x for this setup. I don't really have a need for a "battle rifle." If I eventually get the 6.5 barrel, would the 4-16x still be a good match?

Yes, the 4-16 is fantastic. I used mine on an mws for awhile. It'll be great with 6.5 as well.

Cool, nice to see a real weight on the MLK upper.

    Looking at around
    8.5 for MLK MWS
    8.3 for a ACC
8.3 for the Scar with Extended handguard.

The ATACR 4-16 is an awesome scope. If you find you need something for CQB, do what I did: throw an Aimpoint on a 45* offset mount. On my KAC ACC, I’m running a NF 2.5-10X24 and an Aimpoint. I can run CQB to 1000yda with this set up. Literally hit at 630/800/1000yds yesterday using my NF. I have the ATACR 1-8, and I ran it for a bit, and used it on a hog hunt. The NF 2.5-10x24 just gives me a bit more top end. The Aimpoint in 45* is only ounces, and solves your bottom end CQB type uses. Zeroed my Aimpoint for 50yds.
