Concerning using gas systems that are properly built versus upgrades to legacy systems- I was very surprised at the lack of affect on the Optimum system from using an e-carrier.

Three of my buddies grabbed Blemished Optimum LW barrels when they went on sale. One of them used an e-carrier, but all three ended up with the same gas port size. I thought for sure the rifle with an e-carrier would run one size smaller, but it didn't end up mattering much, if at all. I was very surprised by this, since conventional wisdom has always been (as I understand it) one gas port size size down or one buffer weight up when running the e-carrier.

I’ve only got about 1,000 rounds through it to verify function. Its on the back burner for the moment, awaiting its own dedicated form 1 lower. It ran nicely in those 1,000 rounds. Paired with a 13” handguard, its probably the perfect length barrel for a general purpose SBR.

When conventional upgrades don't improve anything, that's a pretty good indication the system is nicely Optimized already.

This should be the final configuration of the SBT barrel, featuring the EXC gas sysem and shown with a Covert Comp Taper.

Not that I can do this consistently in the conditions I shoot in, but, the below cherry picked quotes should give some indication of what the barrel is capable of.

it will probably be more accurate than I will ever be but those seem nice. This barrel seems like it has a few nice features going for it that set it apart.

Got a BRT 11.5" Suppressor barrel and put this together as an anniversary present for the wife.... Yes, she loves this green and the rifle shoots super smooth!
