Brownell's has two versions of the waffle mag. Version One is a light aluminum mag body with deep waffle imprint that was the original retro mag. These look fantastic and have worked well for me. But they are fairly lightly constructed and are not likely to stand up to continued use. I can't imagine one doing well if full and dropped on concrete.

The second version is a steel magazine. I believe it is made by E-Lander. It has the waffle pattern but it isn't as deep as the aluminum version. Anyway, this is probably the mag I would go with if I wanted dedicated metal mags for whatever reason. They are fairly inexpensive, seem durable and have worked fine in a couple different 308 pattern ARs.

What OAL's are you able to get with those? Anything over standard?

Metal is nice, heavy metal is nicer, but Magpul seems to be my go to in consumables. Haven't destroyed one yet...yet...

Run both Magpul and D&H, Both seem fine and no problems in my Armalite. Either mag will run at least $10.00 cheaper and that old fixed income thing always comes into play.

I like the pmags but the KAC mags slip in the magwell a bit easier. All have worked OK. My goto is still the beloved KAC mag. But if on a budget I can appreciate the pmags or D&H mags for sure.
