    Send gift certificate to the police department and ask them to forward it to that female officer. Sending real cookies might get them thrown in the dumpster, a careful individual wouldn't accept cookies from just any unknown person through the mail.

    Cincinnati police listed the officers name on their twitter account.

    @cincypd:
    “Four Cincinnati officers involved in the encounter with the shooter: Officer Jennifer Chilton, Officer Antonio Etter, Officer Eric Kaminsky, and Police Specialist Gregory Toyeas while hundreds of other officers secured the scene around Fifth Third Center and Fountain Square.”

    It seems to me this was a textbook active shooter response by the police. I saw this on another forum, apparently posted by a Cincinnati Officer:

    From the first shot fired by the suspect to the last round fired by the officers, the time was somewhere around 4 minutes, 20 something seconds. It took about 54 seconds from the time the first round fired was by the suspect to the first call to Communications section. Which leaves a response time, implementation of a plan of action, and engagement time of the officers around 3 minutes and change. We're talking about the time from the first radio broadcast of an active shooter until the last round fired by Officers was at 3 minutes and change. For those not in Law Enforcement, that's impressive. I don't mean to sound like I'm bragging on my officers, but I am... They didn't have the ability to stop their cars immediately outside of the location where they engaged the suspect from. You can't drive a car up onto Fountain Square. So you have to include time it took to get from where they bailed out of their cars to the location where they engaged the suspect.

    About the officers:

    They're excellent officers, but they're average looking officers. But in 26 years, I've often seen the average looking officers be the ones who are willing and able to step up when the situation calls for someone to do so. Another example of, "Don't judge a book by it's cover".

    Probably have to get sent back, most PDs I've worked with are very serious about officers not being able to accept gifts and things like that. Best bet would be to find a "cookie of the month" club kind of thing and just sign her up with a paid membership.

    Two people died and you killed a guy. Here’s some cookies...

    Like I said. That definitely deserves ice cream, not crappy cookies.

    That came off snarky. I didn't enlarge.

    I've talked and worked with officers who have been involved in shootings in which the bad guy died. Some don't want to talk about it. Some will if they think it will do any good.

    I know one officer that didn't mind at all talking about it. Everyone pretty much agreed that he had been wanting to shoot someone for most of his career and finally got the chance. IMO that doesn't say much of you as a person.

    One friend who killed an armed robber after a foot pursuit (before I knew him) talked about it if asked, but you could tell it bothered him. People who knew him before told me he had changed and become more introverted.

    Another casual friend who had been shot on the same entry where another casual friend had been killed picked up the habit of incessantly tappin/jigginly his leg by raising the heel up and down when ever he sat. He didn't do that before he was shot and shot back.

    From my experience in talking to and working with folks who have been involved in fatal shootings, it isn't something most want to dwell on.
