That goes without saying. Law enforcement is going to be the one to enforce the law. But that doesn't mean that the police, in and of themselves, are hypocrites and traitors. The majority of cops I know would either refuse to enforce unjust laws, mostly by saying that they "didn't see nothin'", or would just put their foot down and say we're not leaving and we're not complying; either form a new police force or repeal this law. Others would just turn in their badges and join the resisters. Cops know that there's no point in enforcing illegal laws on behalf of people who hate cops anyway.

Among law enforcement, however, there are the liberal cops who want to take the guns. There are also the "mercenary" cops who follow orders: They don't make the law, they just enforce it, and if they're getting paid to seize guns, then that's what they're going to do. And there are those who will disagree the law, but they got bills to pay and mouths to feed, and me and mine trumps all else with them. There will be a sizeable chunk of those types, but there will be an equally large chunk of guys who refuse though.

For some. Most cops are a bit more far sighted, and realize that a blanket order to confiscate guns is going to end worse than them not complying and losing their pensions.

I have degrees in history, political science and law. You of course are joking about the "duty to protect", I get it..... While I generally support law enforcement, it hasn't escaped my notice however that when guns are seized and people are carted off to the Gulag that the ones doing the seizing and carting- generally wear a uniform and carry a badge. They are usually carrying some paper or will refer to some "duly passed law" that they seem to think makes it ok....Like it, don't like it, that's HISTORICAL FACT. Facts are stubborn things as John Adams said during his closing argument in defense of the British Soldiers accused of murder during the Boston Massacre Trial......Our nation started with that premise, and I would hope it still matters.....

hard to say ? sadly our society is splintered in half so its not what it was 10-20 years ago and I do not trust those in charge look at what is going on in Seattle or Portland etc.. they stand down watch crimes and then go after those innocent instead ?
heck they do not even bother bringing up charges anymore to most breaking the law

will it happen in some parts not in others ? that is what I think and I do think many will stand up like is happening where they are again splintered

So they search and don't find anything, and there was nothing to prevent you from selling those weapons without a trace. Please tell me how the .gov can legally do what you suggest? Now if you're telling me that the rule of law went out the window then we have much bigger problems added to the list at that point, don't we? i.e. you are held responsible for a "crime" they cannot prove and have no evidence of. Even the passage of a UBC would make anything you bought on a 4473 after that point accountable but nothing before it's inception.

Like I said above, if the Constitutional protections of Due Process get thrown by the wayside then outlawing guns is just the tip of the iceberg.

Judging by our current political, justice department, immigration and drug policies I don't see how anyone can declare we are governed by the rule of law. Unless its to the state or feds advantage.
