I started circulating the concept of "militias in three-piece suits", meaning keep the militia philosophy, but use legal civilian means to accomplish the militia goals of protecting the Second Amendment and freedom in general.

For example, infiltrate a liberal organization and start leaking all their plans to NRA, etc.

I would have to agree with the "Militia's in suits" idea.
If the media can rake a bunch of nerdy catholic school boys over the coals and essentially portray them as Hitler youth, there is no ability to peacefully assemble to exchange ideas, organize a resistance or protest.
We've turned the corner now there are a lot of people and even .gov agencies that clearly are opposed to conservative beliefs.
There is a direct line between the goals the far left seeks to achieve and the MSM's work to essentially assist them however they can.
At this point if someone got an idea of what you're up to you're likely to get some serious heat from those willing to commit violence. If you're especially successful, get ready for some kiddie porn or the equivalent to be found on your computer.

I find the idea of "centrist militias" totally plausible, but somehow funny at the same time, because it sounds funny, since militias are usually considered the domain of extremists, which they really shouldn't be.

In reality there probably would be a lot of communities of "regular folks" who would arm up and organize to try and keep their town from falling under the sway of either of the two main warring factions.

This is where I fear I'd find myself. Being a moderate sucks in that respect.

People in the middle may be confused...or they may just have their own thoughts that differ from yours or mine. Maybe they’re like me and radically pro-gun, anti-taxation, but pro-abortion and drug legalization. Maybe they think a balance of government and market based capitalism is the right answer.

The reality is that the vast majority of people want the best world for the largest number of people. We have differing opinions on that.

I’m with 26 Inf. I really don’t want any sort of SHTF and think that the adults need to separate these groups so no BS gets started.
