Look for onerous gun laws to start passing in places where it stuns the residents. Mainly, though, I think the push to get as many illegals registered as Democrats to turn red states blue will be the primary thrust. The population was 2/3 what it is now. You had 3 choices for TV news - ABC, CBS, or NBC. Daily papers, unless they were biggies, rarely dispatched reporters to out-of-region events, instead they primarily used AP or UPI.

Unless the story made the AP or UPI ticker, it had little chance of going national. Consequently, items that get a lot of coverage today - like the MAGA hat teenager and the 'Viet Nam Times' guy wouldn't have made a ripple.
