I'm a HUGE fan of the Predator I & II original movies. IMHO they are going to be hard to surpass. I will see this new one but I'll wait until it's available via streaming.

Saw it and really enjoyed it.
*** Spoiler Alert ****
In Predator 2 Gary Busey played a CIA operative and team leader for OLWF named Peter Keyes tracking the Predator and attempting to capture it for weapons research. In The Predator Gary Busey's son in real life Jake Busey plays Sean Keyes the son of Peter Keyes who is a government scientist carrying on the same work with Project Stargazer.
Speaking of Project Stargazer, their operatives used an Airbus EC130 "Eco-Star" helo, I got to ride in one several years ago and they are like the Rolls Royce Phantoms of the sky.
The film was hilarious, IMHO Thomas Jane stole every scene he was in. Though the trick-or-treating scene was the best, LOL!
I appreciate them making it for a series and more sequels. I thought it was cool how they tied in the Hot House effect of Earth and the Predator race's agenda.
A lot of Predator and Predator 2 references! "Get to the chopper" and "You are one ugly mother ****er" made it into the script!

Heavy in to special effects but for whatever reason for both my wife and I it didn't have the punch of I and II. Maybe a follow-up is needed.

SPOILER ALERT
I still don't get the point of the two predators

In the film it was revealed by the Stargazer scientists that the "regular" Predator was a fugitive escaping their home world hence the opening scene of the film with a space ship pursuit and the "regular" Predator being fired upon right before he entered into the worm hole. The scientists deduced that he was on his way to Earth to give humanity weapon technology that would put them on equal footing with the Predator race as they were planning on colonizing Earth and wiping out humanity as the Earth's climate changed to one that was more accommodating to their species.
They also concluded that the Predators continually evolve through genetic modification as they harvest other species' technologies via their safari's throughout the universe. The "big" Predator was essentially a genetically modified super soldier sent by their leadership to neutralize the rouge Predator who went off reservation before he could give the weapon to the humans.

This movie was absolute garbage.
I turned it off after the party motel scene.
The movie was unbelievably terrible and awful.
