Is it just me or does the follower on the bottom (grey mag) look opposite and shaped different than the others?

Good catch. Looks like the gray one has a blue “tan follower”, and the other two have blue “green followers”. I’ll be curious to see follower underneath on the final product.

I too have enough AR magazines to ward off a small army, but I think I might buy some of these to test out. They are pretty cheap, and you never know with the craziness going on

I have a tan and a black sample, and the follower bump is on the left side, like the tan GI follower, opposite of the black and tan ones in the photo above. The bump is shaped like those, but it doesn’t extend all the way to the rear of the follower like in the photo - it stops about 1/4” from the rear. The follower also has a square hole in the middle, above the loop where the spring attached underneath. These were samples, so I can’t confirm that the production ones haven’t changed. I’ll see if I can turn up a photo of a production one.

On a sort of related note, since someone mentioned EPMs, Okay has apparently produced some (I saw an Okay photo), but I haven’t seen any out there, only Center.

Edit: My samples’ followers look like the one in this photo on the Botach site:

    What exactly was bad info?

That 855A1 was chewing up M4 feed ramps if fed from anything other than the EPM or Magpul M3s. IIRC, a member on Lightfighter dabbed the feed ramps with white paint and took some pictures to discuss what he thought might be an issue. Apparently someone saw the pics and took them out of context, which made it look like the feed ramps had been damaged and that got circulated all over the internet.

I did see a pair of small pitted spots in the lower receiver of a single, ancient M16A2 where the barrel extension feed ramps meet the receiver. Once. I have no way of knowing what caused it. It probably hasn’t seen anything but crappy old range-only mags in a decade. The unit fielding it had an SOP of THROWING spent mags behind the firing line for a detail to pick them up and reload them. Function was unaffected. The gun fed 855A1 with no issues from (old) grey mags with green followers. I think M855A1 use is a non-issue.

Typically we had issues with the older black followers after movement or impact. Think jumping out of the back of a duece and a half or off a chopper. The rounds would compress, then restack funky, or worse stick and bind in place. If you were in an engagement, you were screwed. If you were in military competition it cost you time and points. The greens were better, and I only had issue once or twice with those.

Well it actually is an issue and it was enough of an issue that it was included in a powerpoint for military end users.
