I sometimes put my glocks together Gen1-3 (19, 26, 17, 17L, Father's 24) upside down, when odd things like this happen. Get the slide on a bit, check the recoil spring, flip the assembly upside down and finish moving slide onto frame. Been an oddly infrequent occurrence for me for decades, with no discernible pattern or consistent cause. Figured it was common, but the first few times I encountered it I was perplexed and almost got a hammer, but luckily tried upside down first.
