    5.45 S&W over gassed?

    I have a ton of 5.45x39 ammo.

    I have a S&W 5.45x39 S&W upper.

Every time I fire it puts a gas of jet into my eye as bad as if I was shooting suppressed, even though it is not suppressed.

It seems like it is grossly over gassed.

Given teh huge amount of 5.45 ammo I have, I am committed to making this work.

Has anyone else had issues with 5.45x39 S&W uppers being over gassed?

IF this really is the problem, then an adjustable gas block should be an easy solution.

    Not a surprising situation.

Dialing the gas down should correct it.

I think so. I sure hope so anyways!!

Also, BTW, I get a higher number of malfs, failure to feed, and double feeds in my S&W 5.45x39 AR than I do in my MSAR 5.45x39!!

Yep, I have one of the 12 to 20 factory guns, and yep I shoot it although only rarely because of the pain of cleaning corrosive ammo, the AR has NP3 so no worries.

Ive had zero problems with my 5.45x39 S&W running a H2 + springco blue and A5H2 + vltor rifle spring in ~12k rounds.

Sounds like you have bad mags.

It's the SAME mags in both guns.

I have one of the 12 to 20 MSAR rifles in 5.45x39.

Then I dont know what the issue is, me and several members have killed barrels on these 5.45 uppers with little to no trouble. From personal experience they are gassed as much as a Colt 6920 since Ive shot them back to back on the same lower. What buffer are you using?
