    AAC M4-2000 Pinging

I am looking to get into the suppressor game. I want a suppressor that recess mounts over the barrel. It will be going on a 16" M4 upper so I want to keep length to a minimum. I like the AAC M4-2000, and the Surefire FA556AR. I think the Surefire my be overpriced. One thing that concerns me about the AAC can is I have seen a video where the AAC can/ flash hider pings after each shot. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this an issue they have resolved? If anyone else has a suppressor recommendation that my meet my needs please let me know. Thanks for your help.

The Blackout hider does that. If you get the Phantom version, shown below, it will not ping like that.

The pinging seems to be hit and miss. Some guys get it bad and some don't have it at all.

My 18 tooth black out flash hider pinged like crazy just by flicking it before I put it on my SBR. After I installed it though, it barely pings at all.

Every once in a while I can catch the slight sound of it.

Well, I have the AAC Blackout FH (non mount) and it pings as well. Not sure what I'm gonna do about it either.

If you use electronic hearing protection it's universal. Every AAC can that I've heard shot with a Blackout flash suppressor underneath, pinged. Probably 15 different uppers or so...

Yeah. I know what a pinger sounds like. But my Mount threads over the barrel shoulder, and it really deadens the pinging quite a bit.

Ah, I see. I guess that might make a difference. I didn't know they had recessed blackout mounts, all the ones I saw looked like a flush fit to the shoulder of the barrel.

Shoot faster, and you will not hear the pinging.

It's not really recessed... I don't think. It's just that the barrel is a Colt commando 11.5 with a fairly skinny profile. It just happens to fit inside the FH by about a good 1/4 of an inch!

The AAC model which goes back over the barrel is called the SPR/M4. If you want the best AR can ever, then get it. It is quieter than the M4-2000, which is also a good choice. Both extend about the same past the barrel.

The sound some hear is like worrying about sometimes being able to hear the spring inside an AR receiver extension. It is far quieter than the gunshot.
