I shot my AAC M4-2000 for the first time today on my POF .223 and it was fun! The Blackout flash hider pings like a tuning fork. I did not hear it but I wasn't trying to hear it either. There was one other guy at the range and he was shooting a 300 Dakota big game rifle and that thing was LOUD. My POF sounded about like a .22 LR in comparison only quieter. It was cool to hear it so clearly smack the steel target 200 yds downrange. The can blows spent cartridges further than without, it shoots quite a bit lower, and the bolt won't lock back on an empty mag (probably because it's a piston).

Worrying about pinging is akin to worrying about your one eyebrow being a little more "full" than the other. You might notice it, but noone that really matters will.

It's just one of those things that once you notice it, you will always notice it. You just have to learn to accept an ignore it if you can.

The benefits of the FH itself far outweigh any theoretical disadvantages of that slight noise. I am very surprised to hear Robb say that people that far away could hear it. I never would have thought it was that loud. Was it louder than the sound of brass hitting the deck?

I think you need to be a paid-member to watch this but you can try to listen for it:

He just finished his large-scale 5.56mm silencer comparison.

    Yeah, I'm not and I couldn't...

Then again, it took me to a log in screen. No telling if I was a member but not paid, what would ave happened next

It won't work if you are not paid. A year of his reviews is worth $30. That is 2-3 mag dumps on an AR. This one review took him about 120 hours of work and he is doing .308 in a week or two.

Here is a video of my LMG with a Blackout with the older 416SD suppressor. I could not tell any ringing while shooting it or when others shot it but the barrel is 1" in diameter and that might contribute.

That's cool. There's nothing sweeter than a silenced burst, and then the sound of the rounds hitting the gong like an echo. That brought a big grin to my face the first time I did it.

How did you do the rail mounted camera? I've seen a few videos that use that. I'd like to do that some time.

Here is more video footage from it where I overlayed the Elcan reticule on it.
