    KAC M5 Rifle RAS question?

Will a KAC M5 Rifle RAS handguard fit over a National Match free float tube? I had to remove the heat shields from my plastic handguards to gain enough clearance for them to fit.

    Thanks, NYH1.

Yes. I two sets that I have modified to use over RRA tubes. It is very easy to do.

This is on my AR15A4 upper.

I've never fired it without the free float tube on it. Did you fired yours before you installed the free float tube? If so, did the tube make a noticeable improvement in you accuracy?

I'm trying to determine if the tube is worth the added weight. I only use iron sights on it.

    Ok, thanks.

However, I want to know if the free float tube makes enough of a difference in accuracy to be worth the added weight. I shoot this rifle with iron sights (factory/regular carry handle & FSP). If I used a scope I'd definitely keep it. Just not sure I'll notice anything with iron sights.

    Thanks, NYH1.

Yeah, I'm going to leave it on.

Just got back from the range. Shot some American Eagle 55gr. Rem., Federal 55gr. (M193) and 62 gr. (M885) 5.56 ammo in it. I'm not the best with open/iron/peep sights. However, this AR15A4 is the most accurate open/iron/peep sight rifle I have. It's becoming my favorite AR/M4 platform rifle to shoot, even though I have others that are setup to be a lot more accurate.

    Thanks, NYH1.
