Any idea what this Leupold reticle was for?

Not my auction, just never seen anything like it. Wondering if it is even intended for a rifle.

No idea but bet it's not for use as a rifle scope.

That scope came off of a old Criterion 400 forestry survey laser, used to measure the diameter of trees.

That's cool, never thought of that. Leupold also made a lot of these:

Wasn't made by Leupold or the modern reproduction company mentioned in the wiki entry.

Something I found interesting from the ranger's tour was that the front sight on the fire finder was a piece of horse tail hairs since they still had plenty around in use.
