FFP is great on a precision/long range gun because the hash marks- rather MIL or MOA- are usable at any power setting. Glass clarity and adequate magnification are considered a requirement for precision/long range.
Old rule of thumb; "you're gonna spend twice on optics as what the rifle costs"- for those reasons.
I've found a 3-15X or similar to be just fine for hunting to 600-800 yds. for deer (Whitetail/Mulie) sized game.
