What say you guys and gals, looking to buy a Dan Wesson 1911, which one of the two I have listed in the title would you buy, and why. Looking at the full size 5 inch 45 ACP models.

The Valor is a nicer gun.
Apples to oranges comparison.
Valor is steel frame (SS), Vigil is alloy.
Vigil is more “bare bones”/spartan of the two.
Both have quality “bits”, no MIM in either.
If you’re looking for a range gun, shoot the hell out of it gun- get the Valor.
I have both a 5” and Commander length Vigil, they are dedicated “carry” guns and are shot infrequently.
I have a similar question. OP — I hope this is alright and it’s not a hi-jack, but I feel like a new thread would be too redundant.
I’m looking into my first 1911. Buy once, cry once... and I want a rail. A Springfield Professional has been on my mind, with a Dan Wesson Specialist a close second. This will be for serious use (as serious as a civilian can get, if you catch my drift). Is the juice worth the squeeze on the Pro? Or will I be served just as well with the Specialist?
Also, any other 1911 recommendations will be taken into consideration. I’ve looked into Wilson, Les Baer, Ed Brown, etc.. but always back to the Pro or DW Specialist. But that could be due to my lack of experience.
Thanks in advance and hope I’m not out of line.
Valor with duty coat...
I have the Valor with duty coat, and it is as close as you can get to a perfect 1911 for this cowboy.
However...
1). It IS a heavy gun to tote around all day, day after day.
2). Those Heinie straight 8 night sights are THE worst sights you could put on a high end gun. Every set I have ever seen has been SO dim as to be almost useless! And when you search around for a decent set of replacement night sights, not a lot out there that fit those sight cuts.
Am considering the Vigil just for the weight reduction. Haven't looked into what sights they come with - or what sight cuts are used. Anyone know?

Goto 1911 Addicts forum and into classified and find a $3,000+ 1911 bought and shot 200 rounds "FLAWLESS" like they always say and buy it for $2K ish. Its like buying a car right off the lot for 35% off or whatever. There are guys that buy them , want another , have money and do this craziness. I see it all the time.
