    Help me pick a 9mm

    Hey guys,

I am soliciting advice from everyone I know, from my father to my YouTube heroes (I'm looking at your Mike Jones).

I fixed up and sold a couple of my surplus FEG hi power clones. I wanted something a big more reliable (not that the FEGS weren't after I fixed the issues, but I got kind of sick of looking at them).

I currently do not own a 9mm. I have my 1911 and that's it for handguns. Gimme your best, all-around recommendation.

I have shot a glock only once in my life and wasn't a fan, but I could be converted I suppose.

I have $550 to spend, but could stretch it out to $600.

Edit: Just more info, that I should have added originally.

I don't have any specific requirements for the pistol.
I am familiar with DA/SA and SAO, but not the characteristics of a striker fired gun.
As it stands, I don't carry but that will change.
I really just want an all-around gun. Carry, range, HW, etc.

That's a broad question. You need to figure out some of the things you desire, such as SA/DA or striker fired...Polymer or metal...full size or sub compact...Applications for the gun: carry, home defense or range toy?...etc...

Once you have all of this settled, go to a gun store or show and try to get a feel for all of them. Even better if you can shoot some of them before you decide.

Ultimately the only one who can decide is you. You know what you like or dislike, you will discover what shoots best for you. There is no one size fits all 9mm.

I have my favorites and preferences, but you may hate my choices. The upside is there are a ton of options out there today and plenty of them, if not most of them, are very good.

    Happy searching!

I’m no expert with a pistol, far from it. That being said I like my Glock 19 gen 4 and shoot it well. I really like the 19x and new G45 also. The extra grip area with the 19 slide is a good combo.

Glock 19 MOS or Glock 45. If you absolutely can’t find a way to like the Glocks, then S&W M&P 2.0C 9mm. Or however the f it’s written.

Get a Glock 17 or 19. Shoot it till you get used to it. If you don't like it, sell it.

I forced myself to like it because I shot it better than the M&P.

I really like my CZ P07 if you are ok with DA/SA. The P09 would also be an option, but is larger. Both well within your price range

    Other Options:
    Glock
Walther PPQ- Nicest trigger i have used on striker gun
    HK VP9
    SW MP 2
    CZ 75 an variants
    Berreta 92/APX
    FN 509

Depends on your requirements, but all capable options to look into. I have not been impressed with Sig as of late and would personally avoid them

    What is this for?
    Range gun, competition, general carry?
Is your goal to have a pistol, or to be excellent at pistol shooting?

Without more info, my general answer is to get a g17/19, m&p 2.0 fs/compact, sig 320, CZ, walther ppq, or hk p30/vp9.
Any of the above should be reliable. I chose glock for support reasons. Pick one and wear it out.

Funny how things are, I was the other way around.

HK VP9 is a good shout too.
