    Opinions on the Cimarron 1872?

The opportunity has popped up lately to get one of these in .38 Special for a song, and barring inherited guns from my grandfather, my collection is purely practical and consists of mostly autos (save for a Ruger Bearcat which I will never part with) making this my only revolver.

Anyone have any experience with these? How strong are they, being an open top chambered in a modern caliber?

Use will be just as a range toy and for looking pretty.

Bearing in mind what its intended purpose is (a range toy) I think they look like a lot of fun. I really enjoy History so most of my guns are range toys.
