I agree... great link with really good info. thanks for sharing! According to those numbers, looks like it would put this one of mine at 1974.

I started another thread mentioning that I'm about to have an opportunity to purchase 2 SP1's from the original purchaser. Not yet sure what day I'm going to look at them, but the owner is supposed to be getting me some serial numbers. He did mention that one of them has a factory Colt scope on it. I'm not really big on the scoped ones, but interesting, none the less.

*edit- the seller found 2 more he forgot he had. so now it's up to 4!

Saw a couple in that condition at a gun show. No takers at $2500. The same 2 rifles have been at every gun show for ages.

I guess it all depends on the year, and how original they are. evidently, they're not worth that. otherwise, they would be gone. if they were early to mid '60's and all original, I would think they would be gone at that price. the ones from the 70's just don't command the prices like the ones from the 60's. next time you see them, see if you can write down the serial numbers.

I have nothing but retro / fixed handle AR-15s. Started with a Delta Hbar 10 years ago and added a few since.

A lightweight KISS carbine is truly a joy to shoot and own. I have an A2

and recently bought an SP1 rifle

Now there’s a Carbine SP1 coming up for auction, those are pretty rare here (Switzerland) so I’ll try and snatch it if the price doesn’t go crazy.

I hate to say it but that’s because they are far overpriced.

I waited for the super-sale at Brownell's. Picked up their M16A1 for $800. Is it the real deal from the sixties? No, but it's cool enough to have fun with.
