NcStar VISM SPA Flipdot Optic--Opinions Wanted

I have a Primary Arms 2.5X Prism which is good for most everything. But Mrs. Bullseye will not approve a loaded bedside pistol so my AR 15 has to double for home defense. Now, I have a light and detachable sling but I notice in practice I would rather have just irons for home defense. The scope just gets in the way at 10 feet. A red dot would be cool for short distance, quick acquisition too like in the yard. I found this by accident on the internet.

This red dot is 6.5 oz. with detachable mount. It flips up and down---down when not in use and THEY SAY my flip up irons are taller than the red dot in the collapsed position so that irons can be used indoors. This window looks rather fragile but it would not be used in an ongoing combat, SHTF situation---just immediate home and yard defense.

So, QUESTION---is this flipdot a good idea for me or junk

Having a red dot is nice in addition to my PA 2.5 Prism but the appeal of this NcStar red dot is folding to allow use of irons indoors and then flipping back for the yard. NcStar has a terrible reputation, which is why I am asking about it. But after an American mount proved useless, I got this piece of aluminium from NcStar and it works great. True, it is a solid piece of aluminium but NcStar has proven of some value to me in the past. If this red dot is junk then it is junk and of no value to me. This is the mount:

Why are you so focused on this aspect?

Why would you NOT want to use the red dot indoors? Reflex sights are superior to irons in a combative role in every possible way.

Do you understand that the standard practice is to mount a red dot so that the irons are visible through it and then aim the irons through the red dot's glass?

    This is how it's done:

All I need to do to use the iron sights is to lower my head about a 1/4 inch. I can see the front sight through the Aimpoint, like this:

So the NCStar is "Chicom junk", but the Holosun, also made in China, isn't?

i can only speak for 1 holosun optic that has held up and no NCstar product personally.... but i would avoid that hindged feature from any manufacturer

not every chicom firearm/accessory is junk.... you dont see to many complaints about polytech AKs

Ask Travis Haley what he thinks of his. I bet he wouldn't hold back.

They can build to any price point or spec you want. Give them enough money and they'll build you a legit AimPoint.

Because I don't want to do this. What do you think of NcStar optics? Have you used them?
