    7.62 options (silencers)

    I have (2) 556 guns and a 556 socom mini2 that goes on either.
I have a 7.62 Ak and will be purchasing a 308 or 6.5 CM bolt gun
May get a 308 semi down the road.

I understand that the 7.62 socom mini is loud on 556.
I understand AKs dont suppress well.

Im looking for a 7.62 supressor mainly for a bolt gun and possibly a 308 semi, that can be used on the ak and 2 556 guns “in a pinch.”

Is the 7.62socom mini a good option? The 300sps would be preferred if it wasnt 8” long
Should I forget 556 compatability and go with a different “platform” for the 308 rifles?

I use a Silencerco Omega primarily in direct thread mode with 6.5 and .300 caliber bolt guns. I also have Dead Air’s KeyMo adapter so I can easily swap the can to my 6.5, .308 and 5.56 AR’s (all equipped with Dead Air flash hiders). Performance is very good across all platforms. I have dedicated 5.56 cans, but the Omega is convient to have in a pinch.

While I do have some dedicated cans, I absolutely love my Optimus for its versatility. Sound suppression on any caliber is decent & POI shift, if any, is minimal.

One thing to note on the AKs before you go too far down the rabbit hole, is the muzzle thread concentricity. I have three AKs & I was set on suppressing them, but after buying suppressor mounts, I quickly learned that the bore alignment with the can was off terribly on all three. A baffle strike was imminent. I tried tweaking a few things to bring it close but wasn’t successful.

You may want to just double check that before you get too far along with it.

I've run into this. Seems the 74 and modern 100 series work better with suppressors due to larger threads and even then you still need to run a AK friendly suppressor. I also don't think a "mini" is going to achieve much as a "one for all" suppressor.

The ak is a junk project gun. Im cutting, threading and perming a muzzle device on it myself.
If threads dont turn out coencentric, I wont be suppressing it. Guess I could wait and see. If it doesnt work, maybe Ill just get a thunderbeast7.

I have run my Sandman S with the 30 caliber end cap on all of my 5.56 rifles including sbrs as well as 300 Blackout and a 308 bolt gun. It has not disappointed. I only know enough about AKs to pick one up and make it go boom so I can't help you there. It has been solid across many hosts with either their flash hider or muzzle brake mounts. This was my first can so I went hog wild with muzzle devices so I could try it on everything.

I've got a SF 7.62 Mini and a 300 SPS. Both cans weigh 18 ounces on my scale despite the SPS being a little longer... it's not quite 8" either. I really don't use either of them and honestly put together a 8" 300 Blk just so the SPS had a place to live(It does great on the 300 blk)

SF has been passed up and mainly lives on the fact they have the .mil contracts IMO. Keep hoping they come out with something new since I've got a BUNCH of their Socom mounts.

Bunch of good cans to choose from...

DA Nomad, DA sandmans, EA vox, Tbac Ultra 7, Rugged Micro30(Just ordered myself), Sico Omega etc..

IMO the Rugged Micro 30 is pretty hard to beat. But if you want something more precision oriented than I'd look at the DA Nomad, Tbac or Even Sico Omega. My Omega weighs 12 ounces exactly with a Titanium Griffin Taper Adapter and Titanium End Cap and mostly lives on my 6.5 CM Bolt gun.

Just looking to get the report at or below 140ish(i know the bullet produces something like that itself).
    Goals are:
    Poi shift
    Durability
    Size/weight
    Signiture reduction
    Db

    Zero interest in 300blk

Have you checked out OSS? I just bought the 7.62 helix QD and it rocks on my scar 17. Little to no blowback into the chamber, they claim about 139 at shooters ear but I find it slightly quieter than my buddies surefire RC2 which is supposed to be 137db. We were shooting 147gr standard mil ball. Weight is reasonable and construction is solid. You can also use it on your 5.56/300 BLK. No first round pop noticeable or flash at all.
