They are the Rephaim, the result of unions between the Nephilim and humans. Fallen angels mated with humans to produce the Nephilim, who gave rise to the giants (The Rephaim). Or so that's how I understand it. "There were giants in the Earth in those days, and also after." Depending on who you ask, the Nephilim and Rephaim may be the same thing because the word Rephaim can also mean departed ancestors.

I've always suspected there is a "lost technology" that enabled the building of Macchu Picchu, etc. For the stones to be so finely fitted that you can't even slip a knife blade between them suggests that maybe there was a way the material was "softened" and poured in place to set.
