This race is split. Much like our country. It's likely reflective of 2A freedoms...about half for and half against.
Can we just go ahead and peacefully Balkanize yet?
I don't want to make the mistake of the last civil war and think one good battle and it is over. It was naive then and just criminal stupid now.
Having said that.
I would say the vast majority of the military and police excluding a few NE cities are conservative, and the same holds true for gun ownership in the USA.
But anything less than major blood letting, would not solve anything.
In order to prevent outside powers from capitalizing on it, violence must be massive, brutal and swift. Time frame from start to finish must be less than a month, or we are going to end up in a worse situation than we are in now.

The Second Amendment ACKNOWLEDGES our right to own and bear arms that are in common use that can be used for lawful purposes. The arms can be restricted ONLY if subject to historical analogue from the founding era or is dangerous (unsafe) AND unusual.
It's that simple.
It's hard to be a ACLU hating, philosophically Libertarian, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, scientifically grounded, agnostic, porn admiring gun owner who believes in self determination.
Chuck, we miss ya man.

Well... in a way. I went to Iraq.
This notion of a foreign power taking over in the event of a civil war here, relies on ignorance of our own efforts to interfere in and prop up our preferred side in civil wars in the Middle East, in Afghanistan, in Vietnam to name a few.
Those are all smaller populations and land masses than CONUS.
