    Saltech M80 7.62x51

Has anyone ever shot Saltech M80 7.62x51? It's made in Switzerland, so in theory it should be of good quality.

The price is on par with new ammo, but it does come packed in an ammo can. The pictures show that the primers are crimped and there isn't a NATO cross on the headstamp (which makes since because it's not made in Switzerland. I wonder if this is the ammo that Swiss Arms uses to test their 751 SAPR's.

Nope, but you have my attention...

No NATO cross makes sense, since Switzerland isn't part of NATO.

My can of Saltech 7.62x51 showed up.

My impression is that it appears to be clean quality ammunition. The primers are sealed and crimped. The price of the ammunition is in line with known good quality new M80 and above the price of true surplus. The ammo can is a handy bonus, but it was not sealed with wire and lead like most ammo that comes in a can. The individual boxes are sealed. The case heads are marked 7.62x51 and ST. It would have been nice if they would have marked the year of manufacture on the case heads like most other military ammunition is marked. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet.

Well, get out there and try some!

And if you could confirm that it's boxer primed, then that would be a plus (Berdan is a non-starter for me).

SGAmmo’s website indicates that it’s boxer primed.

Yeah, I'm looking for confirmation... When I hear European mil- producer, then I think: Berdan.
