Mother died in childbirth and Tywin made the comment that "If I could prove you weren't my son", and of course the dragon thing. And of course there is the ironic social commentary.

Subverted expectations, subverted expectations, subverted expectations....

I go in to get a Gatorade after getting gas, I go to a gun store to get some ammo to try before I’d decide what to order in bulk, I search for how much the last episode cost to make on the Internet ...

I keep hearing this phrase as others talk about how the two shit writers are really genusies.

    BS.

If you really wanted to subvert expectations,
Just as dragon queen is about to go full postal, she glances at John Snow. Her face becomes calm, loving and peaceful. All is well. John takes his eyes off the surrendering defenders and gazes lovingly in her eyes. One of the defenders picks up his crossbow and puts a bolt through her neck. She falls off the dragon. John runs to her, she dies horribly suffering in his arms gurgling blood. He hops on the dragon, lays waste to the city, northmen, horde, unsullied, everything and everyone.

He lands. Grabs a large piece of out of his belt, stabs himself in the heart, falls dead. Stands up blue eyed. Stabs the other half into the dragon’s heart. Making a full on white walker dragon instead of a wight dragon. Raises his arms. A million dead rise around him. The rampage has just begun. End.

I still think it's possible Bran, who exists outside the bounds of time and is thus both past and present, *is* the Night King. But I don't think they are going to be able to wrap up this storyline effectively.

Even if Daenerys had gone nuts *earlier* in the series, so we were treated to like half a season or more of her ruling as this paranoid, homicidal Mad Queen, that would have been better. We could have seen Jon trapped in this nightmarish relationship with his crazy aunt, who behaves affectionately to him, as though nothing has changed and constantly makes sexual demands of him that he doesn't dare refuse. Problem is, Jon doesn't completely object to banging his psycho aunt, despite being overcome with self loathing about it.
But instead due to shitty writing it's like "oh yeah, she's the main villain now." and there's like 80 minutes in the series left to resolve everything, kill Daenerys and her dragon and get new person on the throne and then do the wrap up.

If there *isn't* more to the Night King angle, than the proposed prequel series about the Long Night is going to be kinda pointless
because every time we see the Night King onscreen being this uber-scary antagonist we'll know that thousands of years later, he's just going to go out like a bitch after a 45 minute battle against an opponent using the dumbest tactics possible.

And right before Tyrion shoots him in Season 4 "you're no son of mine!"

She might as well, it’s going to take a while to clean up the mess in aisle seven of Kings Landing.

It's a "bittersweet" ending according to GRRM. So, either someone unexpected gets on the throne or...

The Seven Kingdoms go back to Seven Kingdoms each with their own regent.

I'd say by bittersweet, a whole hoop of people (Jon, Dany, Arya, Tyrion, etc) are killed off before people finally say "enough of this dang throne, we're doing it our way" and it ends with seven kings/queens and the "game" starts over.
