I'm going to have to take a day to digest this.

    Seems...unsatisfying.

And thus the Holy Roman Empire was born.

I had laid out the ending to my wife pretty much as it went down. I figured that Jon would elect to go to the North after Dany got her rewards, but that ending works too. I also said that Sam would try to start some kind of Democratic Socialist Republic as a joke, Siri or Alexis must have snitched me off to HBO. I figured Arya would settle down with King Robert’s bastard but I can live with the way it worked out for all the Starks.

Glad to see Jon and Ghost heading north together in the end.

My biggest confusion is, various people at the big meeting knew Jon Snow was the rightful king, so why didn't any of them step up and name him as such? How does killing the dragon queen change that? Murder of a ruler to take the throne common in that show as well as medieval times, so WTF? As it went, Snow should be king, the end. Bran some predicted, so what ever, but i don't understand why no one, knowing who Jon was (and not a chance in hell he would have ended up a prisoner after that but what ever...), all of whom woulds have wanted him king, didn't say jack chit?

"He who kills the king does not get to be king."

Proclaiming Jon Snow as Aegon Targaryen, natural born son of Prince Rhaegar, lawful heir of King Aerys, and rightful king of the Seven Kingdoms would have been seen as a political ploy by the Unsullied and other Daenerys loyalists, and would have made things worse, rather than better: The only people who knew the secret were, afterall, Jon's allies and they would have had good reason to lie and falsify. And nothing would have convinced the loyalists.

That's what I figured and I'm not buying it from those characters to keep their yap shut no matter the consequences. Before the show went FUBAR, not a chance all those who knew would say nothing to keep the piece, and lets not even mention the rest of the fail. Ugh

She's not dead. She bailed at the last minute and is being held in a Russian prison.

    Yep.
    Very unsatisfying.

Without gunning down the big bad,
Or taking out his gang, or chasing off the Indians,
There was no way out of an unsatisfying conclusion for the primary character arc.

Nobody cares about taking out the crooked mayor.
It does not matter if he stayed to be sheriff or rode off into the desert.

Bran has had zero impact, zero worthwhile human interactions, no hint of human affect, for several episodes. He has as much as said he basically only remembers being human but really isn’t anymore. Rain Man as king falls flat without better development of him being human and just in the past two seasons. He needed a Spock saves Kirk and the ship moment in order not to come off as first season next generation Data becoming in charge of Starfleet.

The bottom falling out of kingslayer’s character arc was rough.

The unsatisfying end of Cerci was very unsatisfying.

Bron’s Fate seems like a cheesy fanservice for a breakout character. About happy days Fonzi level.

Frey Worm faces no repucussions or redemption or atonement.

Dragon Queen’s instant on switch to madness was too abrupt, and so rapidly met with justice with no hint of her weighing the aftermath it’s like a straight to video B movie the star cop’s great guy buddy is revealed to be the evil mastermind st the end.

The show runners/writers demonstrated a keen gift for producing an adaption of a highly complex work.
They stumbled a little shifting from adapters. And failed miserably in the end game.

Again, I am not complaining about the ending results itself, or the ending not being how I wanted it to turn out. For example,
I am not complaining about the fact the George shot Lennie at the end of Of Mice and Men.
I am not complaining because I wanted a different ending than George shooting Lennie at the end of Of Mice and Men.
This is along the lines what it would be like if the last two chapters of Of Mice and Men took up ten pages instead of 40 -,
Curley’s wife doesn’t die, Slim wins a lottery, and Curly kills Lennie while George is in the outhouse looking for something to wipe his ass with.
