    Thick barrel bushings, advantages?

What, if any, are the performance advantages of the thick barrel bushing? Or is it mostly cosmetic?

Purely speculative, but durability/strength would be logical in my eyes.

They can crack from the recoil spring pushing on then. Rare, but I don't think there's ever been any failure of the thicker Kart type bushings.

You can have your barrel recessed and crowned. I think it looks pretty awesome to do that with the thicker flange.

If you have a tightly fitted bushing, thicker ones give you more surface for the bushing wrench.

I would rate normal bushing failure as exceedingly rare.
