Would go 24 unless you have a 22 option. It will also be a easier gun to shoot with the weight.

GET IN YOUR BUBBLE!
I should note that my last precision rifle was a long barreled 308. I cant remember if it was a 24 or 26 inch barrel but I believe it was a 26, so Im used to the longer barrel. I had a Remington 700 LTR for a while that was really nice but I never shot it past 300 yards.

No dude is going to get shot in the chest at 300 yards and look down and say "What is that, a 3 MOA group?"
Then I'd go with the longer barrel. 1360 is very doable with 20", but I only try it when I'm hitting everything else with ease, and the conditions are decent. 24" (on Pappabear's .308) shaves like 3 mils off at that range, and is a much more predictable hit at 1300.
6.5 gets there, but it's less impressive due to the lighter bullet. 300WM is the true solution due to being able to deliver the goods in the form of 220-225 gr ELDs, and hitting the target with some actual energy. 175s from the 308 are ok, but 300 is the king of the hill.

I would buy an AXMC. You will soon find that the 308 or even 6.5 for that matter is ideal at 1300+. You are going to want more! 300 win, 300 PRC, 300 Norma Mag, 338 Norma, and 338 LM all doable with the AXMC. Along with all the SA calibers. You wont regret it.

I know.. can't say I didn't try. I would think 24 would be a better option for your desired distance. I have had some shorter barrels sling em faster then longer barreled guns. My 16 inch 308 bolt gun shoots FGMM 175gr at 2625. Which is fast for a 16 inch gun. Same ammo out of my 20 inch Rem700 is 2628 average. My 20 inch 308 Cadex rifle is about 70 fps faster then the Rem700. So I guess it just depends.. If you were running a can, I would say 20. But seeing your not, I would take the better velocity of the 24.

Well looks like I'll be getting a 20 inch. Friends neighbor is selling an AT for a really good price. It has a 20inch 308 barrel, a 22 inch 6.5 CM barrel, a 22 inch 6 CM barrel, a spigot mount, and an Atlas bipod for 4500 bucks.

I personally would go with a 20". My first rig was a heavy contour 26". I run a can and regret that decision everyday. With precision rigs remember, barrels are like underwear and socks and are considered an expendable item like ammo that gets used up with time. If you don't like the 20 you can very well get a longer one down the road.
I went with a 20" barrel only because I'll be running it suppressed most of the time. Otherwise I'd have opted for a 24"
